A quick post, today, to give
Film Studies For Free's readers something good to watch while this blog undergoes
some layout changes.
The above video presents a highly entertaining, and very informative, hour-long Q & A session with film director
William Friedkin. The event, facilitated by
Joseph Pascal, took place on February 24, 2009 at the
Hudson Union Society, New York City, and was made available online thanks to the wonderful people from
FORA.tv.
Friedkin, director of
The Exorcist and
The French Connection, discusses his legendary film career. He describes his on-set experiences, and explores the past, present, and future of the film industry.
Hey, great video, I'll have to try to find time to watch it all soon. I've always found Friedkin to be intelligent and engaging if a little pomous, but he's earned that. It's too bad that his career kind of ended with the whole "easy riders, raging bulls" era and that even his good recent movies like Bug arrn't getting the audience they deserve but still a great American filmmaker.
